  Kochi or Cochin is popularly referred to as the "Queen of the Arabian Sea", the phrase reflects the beauty and long-standing maritime importance of the city.Its traditional hospitality and natural charm make it one of the most interesting cities in world. Cochin is located on the west coast of India in the beautiful state of Kerala between the blue waters of the Arabian Sea and Kerala’s emerald backwaters. An all time tourist favourite, Cochin has to offer forts, palaces, museums, old churches, cool backwaters, palm-fringed lagoons, beaches and the practicality of a contemporary metro. Cochin has the finest natural harbours in the world and is one of the major indian ports. Cochin is a city of many parts. The city is basically a collection of islands and narrow peninsulas and can be mainly divided in to Ernakulam, Willington Island, Mattancherry and Fort Cochin, which spreads around 87sq.kms.In this Ernakulam is the business centre and forms the main land. It is separated from the Fort Cochin and Mattancherry by the river Periyar that flows down to the Arabian Sea. The man-made willingdon island lies between Ernakulam and Mattancherry which houses several important government buildings. Cochin is well connected to the rest of the world by an International Airport , an International Seaport and by an outstanding network of roads, rails, backwaters and a brilliant communication system. Cochin is also one of the fastest growing cities in India.
